California Triple Crown E-Mail List

The purpose of the California Triple Crown E-Mail List is to send out announcements of the California Triple Crown Series of Double Century Bike Rides.

It is an announcement only E-Mail List which means that you should only receive at most one or two E-Mails per week from me. Many weeks there won't be anything newsworthy to report and you won't receive anything from this list.

The most typical use of this list will be to announce an update at www.CalTripleCrown.com ... like the Stage Race Results being complete or some news about one of the Doubles. There are also times when I'll need your thoughts and suggestions.

Each E-Mail sent from this list will have a Subject Line that starts with [CalTripleCrown] so you can easily see where it's coming from. This might come in handy if you want to have your E-Mail program automatically file these E-mails in a separate folder.

OCW Saturday Century E-Mail List

The purpose of the OCW Saturday Century E-Mail List is to communicate information regarding the routes on these rides as well as allow discussion of Century Cycling Tips.

The Orange County Wheelmen have organized some outstanding "Saturday Centuries" since 1990. These rides have been especially beneficial for those training for Centuries, Double Centuries, or other longer rides during the year. The Orange County Wheelmen have a great web site at
www.ocw.org which includes a link to their Membership Application and a complete Ride Calendar.

It is an unmoderated discussion E-Mail List which means that anything you post to this list is sent out to about 300 readers. On the average, you will receive just a couple of E-Mails per week from this list.

The most typical use of this list will be to announce the route for the upcoming Saturday Century.

Each E-Mail sent from this list will have a Subject Line that starts with [OCWSatCentury] so you can easily see where it's coming from. This might come in handy if you want to have your E-Mail program automatically file these E-mails in a separate folder.

From 12/29/01 to 6/25/07, this list was served by the topica servers and you can view the messages previously sent on the topica list HERE.

San Diego Century Riders E-Mail List

In July of 2006, a group of friends who share an interest in the challenge and camaraderie of long distance bicycle rides formed the San Diego Century Riders (SDCR). Our rides start very early in the morning and more often than not in remote areas of Eastern San Diego County. The more off the beaten path we can ride, the better. Some of our members are super fast, some not so. High speed riding is not as important as a consistent pace and desire for adventure. What matters is that we are riding together, having fun, and not taking anything too seriously.

The San Diego Century Riders has a web site at
www.SanDiegoCenturyRiders.com

Mike Berry is the chief organizer of these centuries in San Diego. It is an unmoderated discussion E-Mail List which means that anything you post to this list is sent out to all the readers.

San Diego Longriders E-Mail List

This list is for communication between riders in the San Diego County area who like to "ride long". Long rides are, say, approximately centuries or longer. List participants might communicate about arranging rides in the San Diego County area, or perhaps about carpooling to events at a distance--Double Centuries, Ultra Events, etc. All long-riding cyclists in the San Diego area are welcome on the list, so feel free to promote the list to others.

It's not likely that this list will generate a lot of traffic, so being on it should not present much of a burden to your busy emailbox. Join up--perhaps there will be a ride you'd like to do.

Barclay Brown is the chief organizer of these excellent long rides in San Diego and frequently posts to this list. It is an unmoderated discussion E-Mail List which means that anything you post to this list is sent out to about 200 readers. On the average, you will receive just a couple of E-Mails per week from this list.

Randon Cycling E-Mail List

The purpose of the Randon Cycling E-Mail List is to discuss all aspects of long distance touring and other aspects of non-competitive ultradistance bicycling. It will contain discussions of equipment, training, tips on self-supported riding and the like.

Randonneuring events are called Brevets where riders are expected to be able to ride between control points without assistance from others. The 1200 Kilometer Paris-Brest-Paris Brevet is the most famous of these events and is held once every four years.

It is an unmoderated discussion E-Mail List which means that anything you post to this list is sent out to well over 500 readers, many of whom live in England and France. On the average, you will receive about 3 E-Mails per day from this list.

The folks on this list include some real cycling and randonneuring wizards from around the world.

Thanks to the excellent work of Jennifer Wise and her Team, the Randonneurs USA has an outstanding web site at
www.RUSA.org.

To learn a lot more about the sport of Randonneuring, I highly recommend joining the Randonneurs USA - RUSA.
